Sign up to be a Community Advocate for the 2027 legislative session!
Maine AllCare is working on our legislative strategy for 2027, including introducing a bill that would set up the governance structure (i.e. a health care planning board) necessary for publicly funded universal healthcare coverage in Maine. Once the next legislative session begins, we will need as many voices as possible to reach out to their state legislators about the bill and the importance of a universal healthcare solution for all Mainers.
Sign up here to be part of our growing community of supporters: https://forms.gle/WP7NUtVW7MR2s4YJ6
There is no minimum requirement or commitment. As our advocates database gets created, we will be reaching out to you with information updates, advocacy messages, calls for action and status reports.
Medicare for All
On the 61st Anniversary of Medicare, Maine AllCare was part of a delegation visiting Rep. Chellie Pingree’s office in Portland, thanking the Congresswoman for her support for Medicare for All. We presented Rep. Pingree’s staff with a copy of the open letter, signed by 335+ national organizations, making the case that now is the time for Medicare for All. The delegation represented several of the eleven Maine organizations, including Maine AllCare, that were co-signers of the letter.

Honoring Maine AllCare’s Roots
We are saddened to announce the passing of one of Maine AllCare’s founders, Charlie Priest. Charlie served 14 years in the Maine House of Representatives and ran a law practice in Augusta. He was passionate about universal healthcare, and introduced a number of single-payer bills in Maine. In 2010, his work became the inspiration for the formation of Maine AllCare. Charlie was one of our founding members, and served on the Maine AllCare board from 2010 to 2016. Read more about Rep. Priest and the early years of Maine AllCare HERE and in his obituary.

Our Mission
Maine AllCare promotes the establishment of publicly funded health care coverage for all Maine residents.
This system must be efficient, financially sound, politically sustainable, and must provide benefits fairly distributed to all.
We advocate that health care, a basic necessity, be treated as a public good, since it is fundamental to our well-being as individuals and as a democratic nation.
